Buddy Dogs

These dogs provide emotional companionship in the home. Note: The waiting list is currently closed for new applicants.

Sometimes, a dog in our program doesn’t quite meet the rigorous standards set by Assistance Dogs International to qualify as an Assistance Dog. When this happens, the dog is released from the program and rehomed. Typically, these dogs are between 6 to 18 months old and have been vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered.

These dogs have gone through our Puppy Programme, meaning they are house trained and possess varying levels of obedience depending on their age at the time of release.

Types of Dogs Available for Rehoming:

– Buddy Dogs

– Retired Dogs

– Dogs with Health Issues

– Ambassador Dogs

Each dog is unique, and the reasons for their release from the program vary. Please note that some dogs may not be suitable for homes with young children.

Is Your Home Ready?

– Are you at home most of the day?

– Do you have an enclosed garden?

– Our dogs are house dogs and must be kept indoors.

– They require regular daily exercise.

– They need regular vet visits and must be insured.

If you’re interested in adopting a dog, please review the information carefully to ensure you can provide the loving and suitable environment these dogs deserve.

How to Apply

Please note that it is quite rare for a puppy or dog to be released from our program, so it is unlikely that you will be offered a dog immediately. However, we will keep your application on file and assess it, along with others, if and when a puppy becomes available. Matching our dogs to the most suitable homes is a top priority, and we take great care in this process.

*Please note: Applications for Buddy Dogs are currently closed. We plan to reopen applications in 2025.*
